Dr. Somi Javaid is a board certified OB/GYN and surgeon who spent two decades working to close the gender gap in women's health. After nearly costing her own mother’s life due to experiencing a severe medical error, she founded HerMD. A healthcare platform built on longer visits and prominent health specialists. Her overall goal is to help and guide women become the CEOs of their own healthcare.

In this episode Dr. Javaid sits down with Deb Belfatto, a two time breast cancer survivor, founder of Susan G. Komen North Jersey, and Lets Talk Women’s Health & Wellness. The conversation of the podcast was centered around why so many women are still diagnosed with breast cancer so late in life. Deb shared with Dr. Javaid her struggles and emotions; being dismissed by doctors and what steps she took to advocate for herself and other women going through the similar experience. They went through the warning signs that women shouldn’t ignore and when it is time to seek a second opinion. The two talked about the importance of communication with health care providers and understanding the entire process. The entirety of the podcast centered around how there is constant fail and disappointment through the healthcare system towards women.
